Hafa Adai! US Coast Guard Auxiliary ~ Guam Flotilla 140-02-24

Welcome to USCG Auxiliary District 14 Division 2, “Where Americas Day Begins”

In 1939, Congress established a U.S. Coast Guard Reserve administered by the Commandant and composed of unpaid, volunteer U.S. citizens who owned motorboats or yachts. In 1941, Congress created a military Reserve and renamed the original volunteer Reserve as the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Today, the Auxiliary remains a volunteer organization and services to Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) are provided through two Flotillas in Division 2: Guam Flotilla 2-24 and Saipan Flotilla 2-29.

The US Coast Guard Auxiliary has long had a presence in the Western Pacific, the area of responsibility for Division 2. Both Flotillas work closely with USCG Sector Guam to provide Recreational Boating services to islands of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the United States Territory of Guam. Our reach is further increasing…currently support is provided to the Maritime University of South Korea through a member living in Busan, Republic of Korea. Other Division 2 members have lived and served as Auxiliarists in Japan, Palau, Australia, Taiwan, and other countries.

Locally, members volunteer thousands of hours every year and use of their personal vessels to the safety and security of our citizens, port, and waterways. Free vessel safety checks, harbor/coastal patrols, regatta and fishing derby coverage, boater assistance, safe boating education courses and displays, search and rescue, and marine environmental protection are just some of the services offered.

Members and boats are always needed. Even if you’re not a boater, you will find ways to help us in our mission to the community. Please contact us with any questions you may have.

Semper Paratus! (Always Ready)

WHAT IS ILEAD?

ILEAD is an all Coast Guard Initiative, which was initiated by the Commandant. It stands for Inclusive Leadership, Excellence, and Diversity. It provides our members the opportunity to share concerns and best practices. The Auxiliary has a seat at the table.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, and Excellence are priorities of the U.S. Coast Guard and our leadership at the highest levels.

WHAT IS AN LDAC?

LDAC stands for Leadership Diversity Advisory Council.  It is the "local" unit. Its goal is to create and maintain a positive environment where everyone is encouraged to use their unique talents and skills.

HOW IS MY DISTRICT INVOLVED?

Auxiliary LDACs at the District level invite input from members, share with leadership and pass trends up to Auxiliary leadership and the National ILEAD Council for review and possible action. (Districts may take action to solve problems and implement best practices.)

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO MY DISTRICT, DIVISION, FLOTILLA?

Improved Recruiting; Member Retention; Re-engagement of members thinking of leaving, as well as Improved efficiency and morale.

These are not pie in the sky goals.  They are statistically proven.
